Creating and Restoring Backups in DirectAdmin

Vacares provides Free Daily Cloud Backups to all our clients. However, DirectAdmin also offers a local backup system that you may wish to use. Creating backups with this system can be incredibly helpful if you’re making changes to your site and need a quick way to restore.

Note: If you need a restore from one of your offsite cloud backups, email support and we’ll be happy to help.

Creating a Backup
  1. Log in to Direct Admin and navigate to the appropriate user account.
  2. Under the Advanced Features menu select Create/Restore Backups.
  3. Check the box for each item that you want to back up.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click “Create Backup”. DirectAdmin will start creating your backup. The zip file will appear in your user/backups directory once it’s ready.
Restoring From a Backup
  1. Under the Advanced Features menu select Create/Restore Backups.
  2. Click “Restore Backup”.
  3. Select a backup file from the dropdown menu (all available backup files in your user/backups directory will appear here).
  4. Check the box for each item that you want to restore from the selected backup file.
  5. Click “Restore”. Those items will now be restored to their state from the backup file that was selected.
